WATERBURY HOSPITAL HONORS NURSE, TECH WITH DAISY AND BEE AWARDS

Published:

Waterbury Hospital recently awarded a nurse and a psychiatric technician with the DAISY and BEE awards for their exceptional work caring for patients.

Ayesha Thompson BSN, RN a nightshift resource nurse, and a part of the Education Department is the recipient of the DAISY Award. Ayesha was recognized by her peers for going above and beyond in her compassion, skills, and direct care she brings to patients, fellow nurses, and clinical staff. “Ayesha is an inspiration to us all,” read her nomination.

The DAISY Award was created in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barns who passed away from an auto immune disease (Immune Thrombocytopenia).  The DAISY Award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families, and co-workers. It is a way to thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide.

Jo-Ann Law works as a Psychiatric Technician in Waterbury Hospital’s Center for Behavioral Health and is the recipient of the Bee Award. Jo-Ann was nominated for the excellent care, compassion and advocacy she provides for patients, as well as the support, and outstanding teamwork she continues to give to her co-workers.

The BEE Award was established to recognize the members of staff that go Beyond Exceptional Expectations. The BEE award is presented throughout the year to honor the extraordinary care provided by those that go above and beyond to make an impact outside their daily duties.

“The DAISY and BEE award nominations recognizes the exceptional care our nurses and staff provide patients, their families and peers. Ayesha and Jo-Ann serve as role models to their peers and that is worth celebrating,” said Waterbury Hospital Interim Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Diaz, RN.
