Center for Surgical Innovation

For more information about the surgical innovations at Waterbury Hospital, call (203) 568-2929.

Waterbury Hospital’s Center for Surgical Innovation is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary center with highly trained surgeons and state-of-the-art technology.   Our expert surgeons and surgical teams apply innovative techniques in the field of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in many specialty areas . Minimally invasive procedures are performed through tiny incisions, using either laparoscopic or robotics systems. Because the incisions are small, patients tend to have quicker recovery times and less discomfort than with conventional surgery.   Minimally invasive procedures, combined with progressive approaches to pain management, offer patients at Waterbury Hospital a faster way to get back to their lives.

Our Center includes:

  • One of Connecticut’s first da Vinci Xi Surgical Systems, which has enabled our surgeons to perform robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. This means our surgeons can perform more complex surgeries as well as routine surgeries with just a few small incisions. Now, our patients can “get back to their lives” more quickly, with less recovery time.
  • A computer-assisted spinal navigation system for minimally invasive spinal surgery for more complicated procedures that require utmost precision.

A cutting-edge anesthesia program for pain management—the only hospital in the region to be using this innovative approach.
